1.14.2004 "Peter's Amazing Abilities"
Yeah, I know. I needed to air some stuff. And, I've been feeling much better lately. There are big things in the works, but none of which I really want to talk about right at the moment. Firstly, I don't want to jinx things by fully acknowledging them before they actually happen. And secondly, out of respect, I need to talk to certain parties first for they should be disclosed of things.
Meanwhile, I can talk about other stuff.
Such as "Peter's Amazing Abilities". Yes, I have a few. I'll talk about one for now. Maybe I'll follow up with others in the future, but I figure I better just open the spigot a little bit. Wouldn't want to overwhelm anyone with these, so it may just be better to let them flow out little by little in digestible chunks.
[I'm pretty good at shooting rubber bands]
That's right, you've heard it here first. I have this uncanny ability to utilize rubber bands like weapons. I mean, I'm not only good, but I'm like *sniper* good. Seriously, I can hit a mosquito sitting on the wall from like fifteen feet away. That's right. This guy I know says that I should go on Letterman or something.
Yeah, I'm a freak of nature. I know.
And how did I actually get this ability? Well, when I was a kid, a few of us used to run around playing with rubber bands. We didn't exactly grow up rich or nothing. And we started by strapping on a clothespin onto long piece of wood. We would take one end of a rubber band and secure it in the clothespin and the other end wedged at the end of the stick. It was basically a rubber band rifle.
It was during the summer and we would run around and start shooting at all the insects. Suddenly, we were getting really good at it. Inhuman I know (for all you mosquito liberals, I apologize).
And then came the day when we didn't have enough wooden sticks. So we mimicked the action with just creating a rubber band rifle with both hands. This proved to be just as precise and much more efficient.
I was talking to one of my childhood friends a few months ago about this. It was like, "Hey David, remember when we used to shoot rubber bands around?"
"Yeah, that was fun."
"Can you still can do that?"
"Not sure... haven't really tried in a while."
"The other day, I was like shooting mosquitoes from like fifteen feet away. I can't believe that."
"That's still amazing."
"We were pretty creative when we were kids huh?"
"Err..," he hesitated, "I think it was more like we were poor."
We then laughed whole-heartedly. Yeah, the memories we have of our childhood.. Precious.
